All 17 shows on the Levon Helm Studios calendar between Aug. 13 and Dec. 12 are marked canceled.

Artists have been pulling out of the Woodstock barn for a month. The next date not marked canceled is a Foy Vance concert on April 29, 2027. On Monday the company that runs the barn suedAmy Helm, the singer-songwriter and daughter of the late Levon Helm, for at least $2 million.The complaint says she took nearly $200,000 in unauthorized loans from her father’s estate and related businesses, about half from an LLC that distributes royalties on three of his albums. Those transfers left it unable to pay royalties for roughly four years, the suit alleges.

It also accuses her of self-dealing as president of the studio, known as the Barn, and says about $400,000 was charged to the company with no apparent business purpose, including rent, insurance and her touring van lease. Roughly $167,000 stayed on the books as “Due from Amy,” the complaint says.A representative said Amy Helm was preparing a response. In a July social media post she wrote that neither she “nor our long time core staff” are part of Levon Helm Studios now, and that she would speak in time to the “disturbing circumstances” there.

Brian Parillo, a 10 percent shareholder and vice president when the company formed in 2004, took over as president in May. Sandra Helm, Levon’s widow, and former manager Barbara O’Brien assigned him their voting rights, giving him 60 percent of the vote. He said in a statement that Levon Helm Studios “is not a birthright.”

Amy Helm accused him in a June court filing of financial exploitation and elder abuse of Sandra Helm. Parillo has denied it, and she has said she acted of her own volition. Katie Pruitt and Shinyribs moved their canceled dates to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock.

Frank Beard — the longtime drummer of the rock band ZZ Top — is dealing with serious health issues … and it’s so bad it’s affecting their tour … TMZ has learned.

The health update comes just days after ZZ Top cancelled their August 5 show at the Hollywood Bowl. At the time, frontman Billy Gibbons said on social media … “Insurmountable obstacles require canceling our Hollywood Bowl performance.”

He continued … “Friends, fans and followers of ZZ Top are the best in the business and the band is counting on everyone to bear with us for this brief interruption.”Drummer John Douglas has subbed in for Frank in the past … like last year, when Frank briefly stepped away from the band “to attend to a health issue” … but in Frank’s recent absence, it’s been Michael Monahan.

Frank’s been with ZZ Top since 1969.ZZ Top performed without Frank on Saturday night in Saratoga, CA … and their next show is scheduled for Tuesday in Redmond, WA.

Ben Jones, the actor best known for his role on The Dukes of Hazzard  as Cooter Davenport, and later serving as a politician, has died at 84 years old. The news was announced by his wife, Alma Viator, on Sunday, August 9. Ben passed from a massive heart attack. He was home resting in his favorite chair waiting for the Braves to come on and whoop the Yankees.Jones left Hollywood for the U.S. House of Representatives. He served two terms from 1989 to 1993 while living in Georgia. WIOE’s Flyin’ Brian worked with Ben Jones one day in the 1990’s for then Congress Woman Jill Long’s birthday party in Fort Wayne. Brian said “I was there as DJ playing music and Ben Jones was there to sing happy birthday to Jill Long. While people celebrated Jill’s birthday during a roast, Ben and I had a couple hours to talk. Ben was nice and shared many memories of The Dukes Of Hazzard with me.”

He is survived by his wife, Alma Viator, whom he married in 1992, and two children, Rachel and Walker.

Earth Wind & Fire abruptly postponed its San Francisco concert with Lionel Richie just minutes before showtime on Thursday, August 6, after a medical emergency involving a member of the legendary group. The last-minute cancellation at Chase Center immediately raised concern among fans, with emergency responders reportedly transporting a patient from the venue to a local hospital in critical condition.”We are unable to perform as scheduled tonight at Chase Center in San Francisco due to a medical emergency involving a member of our band,” Earth Wind & Fire announced on their Instagram Stories, per Page Six. “As a result, tonight’s show with Lionel Richie will be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced soon.” The band did not initially identify the member involved or provide additional information about their condition.A representative for the San Francisco Fire Department said a fire engine and private ambulance responded to what was described as a “cardiac incident” at the venue. 

Before Linda Ronstadt became one of the defining voices of 1970s rock, she was turning heads as the lead singer of the Stone Poneys.

One of the group’s most memorable recordings, “Up to My Neck in High Muddy Water,” arrived in March 1968, when Ronstadt was just 21 years old. Released several months before her 22nd birthday that July, the energetic rock song showcased the confidence and vocal power that would soon propel her to solo stardom.”I never wanted to be anything but a singer,” Ronstadt told Route Magazine. I thought that I would be singing at pizza parlors or Holiday Inns, or something like that. As long as I could make a living as a singer… I didn’t have an ambition when I started.

The song followed the success of the Stone Poneys’ breakthrough hit, “Different Drum.”Still only 21, Ronstadt was establishing herself as one of the most promising young singers in American music. Within just a few years, she would embark on a solo career that produced classics such as “You’re No Good,” “When Will I Be Loved,” and “Blue Bayou,” earning multiple Grammy Awards and becoming one of the best-selling female artists of her generation.

Joan Jett has postponed two September performances after undergoing surgery for a fractured vertebra, while preparations continue for the 45th anniversary reissue of her landmark 1981 album I Love Rock ‘N Roll later this month.The announcement was made through Jett’s official social media channels on Wednesday, confirming that she will be unable to perform at concerts scheduled for Costa Mesa, California on 5 September and Louisville, Kentucky on 24 September.Despite the temporary interruption to her touring plans, Blackheart Records is continuing with the scheduled release of the 45th anniversary edition of I Love Rock ‘N Roll on 28 August. The expanded edition will be available on CD and opaque sky blue vinyl.

Country music producer and steel guitarist Tommy Detamore has died suddenly at 70, his wife announced Thursday. “It is with a broken heart I share that my husband of 41 years, Tommy Detamore, went home to be with the Lord yesterday,” Sandra Detamore wrote in a Facebook post. “Tommy was and will always be remembered as a respected musician, producer, collaborator, mentor, and creative force in country music.” She added that she is in the midst of making funeral plans: “This way we can all say our goodbyes, since this was so sudden.” Detamore began playing pedal steel guitar in the 1970s and went on to build a decades-long career in the industry. In 1991, he founded Cherry Ridge Studio in Floresville, Texas, where he worked with artists including Ray Price, Dallas Wayne, Johnny Bush, The Texas Tornadoes, Ronnie Milsap, Raul Malo, Kyle Park and Tony Booth. “I take comfort in knowing he is at peace and is now with his family and that his music will live on and will be cherished forever,” his wife wrote.
