John Fogerty

Posted on 15 February 2026 by Brian Walsh

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced that John Fogerty will be the 2026 recipient of the esteemed Johnny Mercer Award.

Fogerty will be presented with the award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala, to be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on June 11.

The Johnny Mercer Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, is exclusively reserved for a songwriter or songwriting team who has already been inducted in a prior year and whose body of work is of such high quality and impact that it upholds the gold standard set by the legendary Johnny Mercer. Fogerty was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005.

SHOF Chairman Nile Rodgers said, “The first time I heard Creedence Clearwater Revival, I was a mere highschooler. It was also the first time I heard John Fogerty’s voice, one of the most distinctive ever. To this day I’ve never heard anyone else sound like him. His unique songwriting ability is another quality. He’s one of those rare talents who is unmistakably himself.”

“His style of composition is rock and roll mastery. It’s what I’ve always personally believed in, something I call ‘The art of complex simplicity,” Rodgers added. “He’s done what I believe all great songwriters do. He makes us feel. He deserves this award as much as anyone who’s ever received it, or will receive it, in the future. I send my congratulations to John Fogerty.”

Fogerty wrote and recorded some of the most enduring songs in American popular music. As the songwriter, singer, lead guitarist, arranger, and producer for Creedence Clearwater Revival, three of his songs – “Fortunate Son,” “Bad Moon Rising,” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” – have each surpassed one billion streams, placing Fogerty in Spotify’s Billions Club.

Tina Turner

Posted on 15 February 2026 by Brian Walsh

St. Louis CITY SC has unveiled The Tina Turner Kit, an historic collaboration with Adidas honoring the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll and her deep ties to St. Louis.

The MLS team’s homage to Tina Turner marks the first Adidas collaboration with a female music artist on a kit across global sport and includes a number of cultural events to celebrate her impact on St. Louis, including a concert with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO), a Tina-focused pop-up shop, and a music-themed community education initiative for youth and young adults.

Born Anna Mae Bullock, Tina Turner moved to St. Louis at 16, where she found her voice performing in clubs across the region before becoming a global force – redefining performance, style, and female power on her own terms. Her story of reinvention and resilience mirrors the ethos of the city that shaped her.

Inspired by Turner’s electrifying stage presence, The Tina Turner Kit shimmers in gold – echoing the movement of her glamorous attire and the energy of her live performances. Her silhouette appears in metallic gold on the kit’s authentication tag, while her signature, rendered in CITY Red, nods to her iconic lipstick and nails.

Designed in partnership with Adidas and BMG, custodians of Turner’s music and image rights, the kit will serve as CITY SC’s secondary jersey for the 2026 and 2027 Major League Soccer seasons.

“Not only did Tina Turner change music, she impacted culture over decades and continues to permeate it today,” said Carolyn Kindle, CEO, St. Louis CITY SC. “It is a profound honor to celebrate her influence and legacy. St. Louis has long been home to so many artists who have shaped music history and Tina stands at the top of that list.”

“Eternal: A Tribute to Tina Turner presented by Purina,” a Tina Turner tribute performance by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, will take place at Powell Hall at the Jack C. Taylor Music Center at 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 15th.

Van Halen

Rhino will release an expanded edition of 5150, Van Halen’s first No. 1 album, on March 27, just days after its 40th anniversary.

5150 was the first album featuring the lineup of Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony. 5150 marked the band’s first No. 1 album with hits like “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Dreams,” and “Best Of Both Worlds” and continued their streak of multi-Platinum releases.

The LP/3CD/Blu-ray collection includes the 1986 album remastered directly from the original master tapes, overseen by the band’s longtime engineer Donn Landee. Additionally, an Amazon-exclusive green vinyl version will be available the same day.

5150 (Expanded Edition) also introduces more than 90 minutes of previously unreleased live recordings from the band’s August 27, 1986 concert at New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New Haven, Connecticut. These are joined by a selection of rare 7″ single edits and extended 12″ versions.

The Blu-ray includes a new high-definition upgrade of Live Without a Net, Van Halen’s double-Platinum 1986 concert video that was also recorded that same August night in New Haven, along with promotional videos for “Dreams” and “Why Can’t This Be Love.” Pre-order here.

Standalone versions of 5150 featuring the remastered album and rarities will also be available the same day as a 2CD set or a 2LP on black vinyl.

Ahead of the release, the live version of “Summer Nights” from the New Haven show is available digitally, along with the HD remastered video.
