Deep Purple are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album Rapture Of The Deep with a new mix and unreleased tracks.
20 years ago, Deep Purple recorded their 18th studio album in just five weeks and without a label.
Rapture of the Deep has always been considered something of an insider’s gem, yet it often remained in the shadow of the band’s biggest classics.
The album was remixed and remastered under the personal supervision of the heavy rock band’s bassist, songwriter and record producer Roger Glover, analogue-mastered at Hamburg’s renowned Chameleon Studios, and presented with striking new artwork. “It’s a new album now to me,” says Glover.
The anniversary edition also includes a bonus CD/LP with previously unreleased studio sessions from 2005 – rare recordings that document the songwriting and rehearsal process. Among the highlights is the never-before-heard instrumental “Closing Note” by Steve Morse, available exclusively on CD and vinyl.
The Rapture of the Deep reissue is available in 2CD Digipak, 3LP Black (180g, Gatefold), Limited 3LP Transparent Sky-Blue (Gatefold), and Digital formats. Access the album here.
