{"id":2233217,"date":"2026-08-21T06:14:57","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T10:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wioe.com\/site\/?p=2233217"},"modified":"2026-08-21T06:14:59","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T10:14:59","slug":"dolly-parton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wioe.com\/site\/2026\/08\/dolly-parton\/","title":{"rendered":"Dolly Parton"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dolly Parton<\/strong>&nbsp;has another major honor to add to her legendary career, though she couldn\u2019t be in Nashville to accept it in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The country music icon, 80, received the Poet\u2019s Award at the 19th ACM Honors at The Pinnacle on Wednesday, August 19.\u00a0Parton appeared by video for the ceremony, just days after telling fans that health issues had prevented her from traveling.In her wholesome prerecorded message, Parton thanked the Academy of Country Music before reflecting on the role songwriting has played throughout her life. \u201cI just want to send a very special thank you to the Academy of Country Music for honoring me with the Poet\u2019s Award,\u201d Parton said in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DcPaYUQo-tl\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsi=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video<\/a>.\u201cYou know, I\u2019ve been able to do many things throughout my life, but at my core, songwriting has always been the most important part of who I am creatively.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She continued, \u201cEvery dream I ever had and all the dreams that I\u2019ve been able to see come true in life, well, they all started with a song. Songwriting has been my therapy. Songwriting has been my release, my joy. Songwriting has been a gift from God that has allowed me to touch people with words and music.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parton\u2019s virtual appearance came five days after she skipped the Friday, August 14, grand opening of Dollywood\u2019s new NightFlight Expedition ride.\u201cI\u2019ve told you before, all my fans, that I\u2019ve had a few little health issues and sometimes I get a little dizzy and I get dehydrated. And I\u2019m dehydrated,\u201d she explained in a video shown at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parton said her Nashville doctor had \u201ckind of clipped my wings,\u201d telling her not to travel that week.
