The 2018 musical biographical drama film on iconic&nbsp;<strong>Queen<\/strong>&nbsp;singer&nbsp;<strong>Freddie Mercury<\/strong>&nbsp;grossed $911 million worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The success of&nbsp;<em>Michael<\/em>&nbsp;is the latest in a string of major openings in 2026, following&nbsp;<em>Project Hail Mary<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>The Super Mario Galaxy Movie<\/em>, which hit the billion-dollar mark this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Audiences have embraced the film from the beginning, turning it into a unique cultural phenomenon in theaters around the world,&#8221; said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson. &#8220;Their passion speaks to the enduring appeal of one of the greatest recording artists of all time, and it underscores the continued strength and vitality of the theatrical moviegoing experience.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Michael<\/em>, directed by&nbsp;<strong>Antoine Fuqua<\/strong>&nbsp;and written by&nbsp;<strong>John Logan<\/strong>, was released in U.S. theaters on April 24. It follows the life of the king of pop, covering his involvement in the&nbsp;<strong>Jackson 5<\/strong>&nbsp;in the 1960s to the Bad tour in the late 1980s.
