Brian Wilson & Roger Daltrey

Posted on 18 May 2025 by Brian Walsh

Brian Wilson and Roger Daltrey have joined with non-profit organization “The Miraculous Love Kids” for a new updated rendition of “Love & Mercy,” a song written by Wilson for his 1988 solo album.

The Miraculous Love Kids served as Afghanistan’s only school of music for war-torn, poverty-stricken girls and young women until August 15, 2021.

A previous version of “Love & Mercy” served as the first song and video released by The Miraculous Kids in 2018.

“This is quite a feat for girls from such harrowing beginnings – war, poverty, discrimination, and threat of childhood marriage,” MLKs founder and director Lanny Cordola says. “‘LOVE & MERCY’ is one of Brian’s most poignant musical statements about the human condition. The melding of Brian, Roger, and the girls is a sound divine. An honor of the highest magnitude and a dream come true for the girls and I. These are world-class musicians with world-class souls.”

“You don’t have to thank me for doing this. I’m really passionate about how you are being treated. You are the future of your country. Please make it better. You really can. And music will play a big part in that…you’ll see,” Daltrey said in a statement to The Miraculous Love Kids.

Faithfully

Posted on 18 May 2025 by Brian Walsh

Former Journey singer Steve Perry recently released a cover of the band’s classic ballad “Faithfully,” featuring country legend Willie Nelson.

Recorded at Ronnie’s Place in Nashville, Tennessee and at Steve’s studio, Love Box, the track was produced by Kent Wells and Perry and engineered by Joel McKenne, Kyle Dickinson and Perry.

Additional musicians featured on the duet include Mike Rojas on piano, James Mitchell on electric guitar, Wells on acoustic guitar, Scott Sanders on steel guitar, Steve Mackey on bass, Mickey Raphael on harmonica, and Nir Z on drums.

All proceeds from the new version of “Faithfully” will go to the non-profit Farm Aid organization, founded 40 years ago by Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young in response to the growing crisis faced by American family farmers during the 1980s.

Of the reimagined track, Perry shares, “No one has a voice or vocal phrasing anything like Willie Nelson. Singing this duet with Willie has been something I’ve always wanted to do. After recording ‘Faithfully’ with JOURNEY, I always felt it would be a great song for Willie too. What a wonderful experience it was to finally sing with Willie. I’m so proud of what we have accomplished together.”

Nelson adds, “Working with Steve Perry on ‘Faithfully’ was a meaningful experience. It was a pleasure to collaborate on this song. I’m proud that we could create something meaningful and use it to give back through Farm Aid.”

Trisha Yearwood Concert

Posted on 18 May 2025 by Brian Walsh

Grammy-winning artist Trisha Yearwood will lead a concert at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s CMA Theater on July 22nd, celebrating the music of Linda Ronstadt and the Los Angeles country-rock scene of the 1960s through ’80s.

The concert, called Trisha Yearwood and Friends Celebrate Linda Ronstadt and Los Angeles Country-Rock, will feature Yearwood and special guest performances by Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Patti Scialfa and James Taylor.

The event, which is co-produced by Yearwood and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, will benefit the nonprofit museum’s educational mission of preserving and interpreting the evolving history of country music.

Tickets are on sale now at www.countrymusichalloffame.org.

The concert is hosted in connection with the museum’s major exhibition, titled, Western Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock.

The concert will feature Ronstadt’s music, among other country-rock classics, and highlight the connections between Grammy-winning artist and songwriter Crowell, Country Music Hall of Fame member Harris and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Taylor, who each contributed to this musical movement. Scialfa, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of the E Street Band, will also lend her voice and talents to the evening.

“Linda Ronstadt is a big reason I wanted to be a singer,” said Yearwood. “I was 10 years old when I discovered her music, and her big voice drew me in. She combined the country music that my parents listened to…like Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline…but it had an edge to it that I loved.”

“Through Ronstadt, I discovered Emmylou Harris, the Eagles, Jackson Browne, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons and many more,” she added. “I’m honored to be a part of celebrating Linda and this incredible era of music that is such an important part of the history of country music.”
