Yusuf / Cat Stevens’ live album, titled Saturnight: Live From Tokyo, is due out for the first time in the U.S. on November 29, marking the record’s 50th anniversary.
The live album, which will be out as a Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive, documents Stevens’ concert on June 22, 1974 at Sun Plaza Hall in Nakano, Tokyo, as part of the “Bamboozle World Tour” in support of his studio album Buddha and the Chocolate Box.
Stevens performed several songs, including “Oh Very Young,” “King of Trees,” and “A Bad Penny,” from Buddha and the Chocolate Box as well as many of his superhits from early ’70s, such as “Lady D’Arbanville” and “Wild World,” “Where Do The Children Play?,” during the concert that day.
The live album also features Stevens’ first live performance of Sam Cooke’s “Another Saturday Night.”
The Saturnight reissue will be on 180-gram Orange Splatter color vinyl, cut at Abbey Road Studios. The album will also contain lyrics and new liner notes from Stevens’ tour manager Carl Miller and bassist Bruce Lynch.
