Steve Perry

Posted on 15 September 2021 by Brian Walsh

Former Journey frontman Steve Perry has announced that the first holiday record of his career, The Season, will be released via Fantasy Records on November 5. Along with the album announcement, the singer-songwriter and rock legend shared his joyous rendition of the holiday staple “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

“I hope when people hear this record, they’re teleported in the same way I was when I recorded all these songs—I hope it brings them back to those golden moments with their loved ones and gives them that feeling of joy and connection and comfort that we all need so much,” Perry said.

All 8 tracks on the record come straight from the heart as Perry hopes to send listeners to the place they find the most comfort during the holiday season, which, for him, is his grandmother’s home.

Brian May

Queen guitarist Brian May has shared a short film in celebration of the 30th anniversary reissue of his debut solo album, Back to the Light.

“I’ve polished up the three original videos from 1992, but the ‘Back to the Light’ video is brand new – a short film with a story to tell,” May said.

In the short film, May assumes the role of a time traveler, and he tries to pulls off a meeting in time that hasn’t previously been attempted.

May reissued his 1992 debut solo album Back to the Light in remastered digital and physical formats last month. The reissue’s audio supervision was done by Justin Shirley-Smith and Kris Fredriksson. Grammy-winner Bob Ludwig worked from the original restored flat mixes.

“I feel kind of affectionate looking back. Looking back at me 30 years ago, a young man with no idea of the incredible journey that was still to come,” said May.

Roger Daltrey

The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has announced a 12-city solo U.K. tour beginning in November.

The run of shows will comprise “a unique mix of music and conversation, built around Roger’s musical journey and encompasses nearly every style imaginable – including blues, rock, country, soul and metal,” said a post on the band’s website.

During the evening, Daltrey will dig into his incredible back catalog pulling from his nine solo albums, his album with former Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson, and reinterpreting a few Who classics and rarities.

Daltrey said in a statement that on this tour, he wants to take the audience on a musical journey through his career as a singer, with a show of songs and sounds that explores and surprises.

He said he looks forward to having closer contact with his audience than festivals and arenas allow.

“It’s also clear that live music is an important part of all our lives, something to free us from the groundhog days that life has become. This pandemic has brought home to me what an important part of me singing is and it’s made me determined to get back onstage asap,” Daltrey added.
