Bruce Springsteen

Posted on 17 July 2019 by Brian Walsh

Bruce Springsteen has revealed that he made a concert film in which he performs his latest album, Western Stars, from start to finish.

Springsteen revealed to SiriusXM’s “E Street Radio” hosts Dave Marsh and Jim Rotolo that he shot a film with filmmaker Thom Zimny in which he plays the new record in full.

“We knew we weren’t going to tour,” Springsteen said. “So, I was looking for a way to get some of the music live to an audience and so we figured that was the best way to do it. We’re looking forward to getting it to the fans when we can.”

“I thought the record was a little off to the left and I really didn’t know quite know what kind of response it was going to get,” he added. “But just walking around and talking to fans on the street and seeing how the record was received was very exciting. It made us look how for we can further that experience for the fans without going out and playing live right now because I’m still working on some other things.”

Bob Dylan & Neil Young

Posted on 17 July 2019 by Brian Walsh

Bob Dylan and Neil Young performed their first duet in 25 years by playing the traditional hymn “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” in Ireland on Sunday.

The rare event of the legendary rockers – Young on guitar and Dylan on piano – sharing the stage together took place at the conclusion of their co-headlining Never Ending Tour at Nowlan Park in the Irish city of Kilkenny.

The performance evoked memories of their duet debut at San Francisco’s Kezar Stadium in 1975, singing the same song.

Neil Young Archives shared a video of the performance on Instagram, noting that “This is just a little snippet from a cellphone, peace.”

Young’s organization promised to fans that it will re-broadcast the Kilkenny show on The Archives “sometime this week”.

Paul & Ringo

Paul McCartney surprised his fans during the final stop of his Freshen Up World tour at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium on Saturday night, reuniting with his former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr.

After finishing his first number, “Birthday,” McCartney announced, “We’ve got a surprise for us, a surprise for you, a surprise for everyone: Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only, Ringo Starr.”

The two then performed “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “Helter Skelter,” with Ringo manning the drums.

After singing the line, “We’d like to thank you once again,” in “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” McCartney turned towards Starr and threw in a spoken “thank you.”

“No, thank you, Paul. It’s been a thrill for me, and I’ve had a lovely night, and it’s a great show, and I love you, man,” said Starr, who got on to the stage again later for a hug.

Austin As Elvis

Posted on 17 July 2019 by Brian Walsh

Austin Butler has been cast as the legendary Elvis Presley in an upcoming biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann.

Luhrmann selected Butler for the biopic after several screen tests involving a handful of other actors, including Harry Styles and Ansel Elgort. Butler will be joined by Tom Hanks, who is set to play Presley’s manager, Col. Tom Parker.

The Warner Bros. movie will focus on Presley’s rise to stardom and his relationship with Parker.

“I knew I couldn’t make this film if the casting wasn’t absolutely right, and we searched thoroughly for an actor with the ability to evoke the singular natural movement and vocal qualities of this peerless star, but also the inner vulnerability of the artist,” Luhrmann said in a statement to Variety.
